167. Chickadee

While I was waiting for a store to open this cute little chickadee landed on the car just in front of mine. He is just so plump and cute, it made me smile.

166. Preparedness.

This semester has been tough on me in regards to finding time to precook my meals. Today I had the day off, and ended my semester so I was able to prepare my meals for work. Its a nice feeling to have my meals ready to go, to make sure I am able to eat healthy meals. These lovely vegetables were bought from Russo's in Watertown, MA.

Two servings of soup (carrots, potato, turnip, onion in chicken broth), Two servings of carrots, broccoli and potato, one serving of purple potato and smushed sweet potato, two servings of spaghetti squash with sauted green peppers, crimini mushrooms, onions and eggplant.

Carrots, broccoli and potato.
It is quite a blessing when my biggest concern is fitting things into the fridge.

165. Talking about it

This photos is from the Boston Globe via Reuters. Found here.

By no means am I thankful for AIDS/HIV. I am thankful that we can start these discussions, talk about prevention, support and treatment.

I am thankful that I can hope, someday, December 1st will only be the day Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving up her bus seat.

164. Bounty

Since moving from the South Shore to the Metro West I've been expanding my food shopping experiences. I accidentally happened upon Russo's about a month ago, and absolutely love it. They have the freshest produce, and let you buy what you need not the amount they want to sell you. Need four mushrooms? Buy four mushrooms. Need a small squash? Buy a small squash! Their variety is also impressive. I saw dragonfruit and lemongrass in its fruit/veg form for the first time in my life.
To top it all off, I got all of those nutritious vegetables for $9. (Four types of squash, two types of potatoes, two carrots, half a pound of shitaki mushrooms, a turnip, and a sweet potato)

163. A Bicycle Built for Two

I saw a bicycle built for two in Cambridge as I was headed to study. They looked like they were having so much fun! Unfortunately I couldn't snap a photo since I was driving. Instead, a photo
from a website.

162. Election day

Admittedly, I'm a political/news junkie. I read multiple news sources each day, and my radio is consistently tuned to the local NPR station. This is like my super bowl. Of course I have opinions, but the most exciting fact, regardless of who wins, is that so many people are involved.

I'm hoping for an accurate election as I sit and color in my map.

Happy election day, everyone!

154. Putting myself first

Usually when I'm under the weather I just power through - I do everything I need to do, plus fluids.

Today, I took the day off. I spent the day resting, sleeping, hydrating, recooperating. My throat is less swollen, and I feel on the mend.

I am thankful for the opportunity to take the time for myself, and the ability to stop for a moment.

153. Passing Clouds

The view from a slightly less harried dinner allowed me to enjoy the passing clouds. Off to the distance is the city of Boston.

Note:

In a world where a graduate student is working almost 40 hours a week while taking 12 hours of graduate class, plus a weekly three hour Chinese language class, and an hour long wednesday night dance class, photo blogs do not get updated.

I'll update as I can, but expect things to pick up more in October, when I am only working one job.

152. Pink Flamingos

Welcome to Newton, where even the pink flamingos on the lawn are classy. This is one of a flock, made of stained glass.

139.

The Museum of Science is doing an exhibit on Baseball in America. I haven't seen it myself, but have been amused by this display, where a well known local landmark is painted like a baseball. It ends September 1st. (Taken sitting an eternal red light near the 93 on ramp near MGH.)

I'm not sure if you had heard, but the British reinvaded Boston... to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Freedom Trail in Boston.

136. Office Tomfoolery

I work at a small Christian liberal arts college on the South Shore of MA. We recently upgraded all of our copy machines, which has caused more problems than its helped. As a result, there is general cursing of the machine, and claims of its posession by demons. This is what I found when I arrived at work one morning:

Its nice for people not to take themselves too seriously.

135. Sun shower

These people were sitting, waiting for As you like it on the Boston Commons, when they were suprised with a sunday sunshower. Luckily most of them were prepared!

133. Western Massachusetts Beauty

Driving back on Route 9 from Westborough I was amazed at the beauty of Western Massachusetts.

I'd never get any work done if my office looked out over this:

Even their office parks are nice!

132. Butterfly

I don't believe I've ever been this close to a butterfly in nature. This conclude the trip to Artisani park!
